The Greatest Book Ever Written on Relationships
Man, I forgot how good this book was until I recently picked it up off my book shelf and skimmed through it. Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant!!!
I think that every single guy out there can relate to this story and learn from it. Funny that a fiction book could teach you more about relationships then any self help book out there.
When the story opens Rob’s girlfriend Laura has just broke up with him. When she leaves he feels the rushing thrill of being single again. Who, thats been in a relationship, can’t relate to that moment when you realize you can go out of the prowl again. You begin imagining all the new delicious pussy that is going to flock to you. They’ll come in droves. You think about all those girls you flirted with while in the relationship, but could never act on. Yes the world seems full of possibilities.
Until the minute you hear she’s fucking someone else. All of the sudden your ex girlfriend is the greatest thing in the world and no other girl can even come close to her. I remember this period in my life. Its called “Rock Bottom.” I was there for a good six or seven months. Fucking skanks, drinking myself silly, compulsively calling my ex and begging her back…
Hornsby, the author, does a brilliant job getting inside the mind of Rob. Even more amazing is the question “do pop songs make true love impossible” Rob asks this in the book because no love he has felt matches up to the love the songwriters sing about in pop songs. So true.
So much about this book is true that I highly highly highly recommend reading it. It is hilarious too!! Funny as shit. And I don’t care if you have seen the movie…. Fuck the movie. The book is so much better. Even if you’re not the kind of person who likes to read I promise that you’ll love this book.
