6 Books to Improve Your Sense of Style
Some guys are naturally born with the gift of dressing good. Some guys aren’t.
If you fall into the latter group, don’t fret… there is hope. Each of these 6 books offer great practical information that will have you dressed for success.
While you will always need to be paying attention to the trends around you, some concepts are timeless.
Detail’s Men’s Style Manual: A feature of the book is that for each basic piece (white dress shirt, gray trousers, navy blazer, etc.), it shows several ideas for what else to wear, to dress it up or down. This is great for the guy who wants to get more creative with what he has.
Brad P’s Fashion Bible: The only book on the list written by a PUA. I haven’t read the book, but I heard Brad’s lecture on fashion at the Super Conference, and can safely say, this is a guy you want to listen to. He isn’t the number one pick up artist in the world for no reason.
The ABCs of Men’s Fashion: A primer on the basics of what is what, and when to wear it…this is a solid reference for your book shelf.
Dressing for the Man: This book contains a large collection of photographs of stylish men. These vintage photographs illustrate the range and diversity of authentic men’s fashion. Along the way, magnitude of options will equip the reader with both the vocabulary and options required to build a custom wardrobe.
Ask Men’s Style Bible: This book is based on some of the best fashion articles from Askmen.com. These are more current trends than some of the previous books mentioned.
Thinking Man’s Guide to Dress: It covers all parts of the man’s wardrobe (shoes, suits, shirts, ties, coats, etc.) and it’s very well-versed on the history of men’s style and where conventions of dress originated. It’s not just a history lesson though, it has a lot to say about how to dress, how to look for quality, and what a man needs to build a versatile and tasteful wardrobe.
