6 Healthy Habits That You Might Be Overdoing
You can always have too much of a good thing. We all try to make the best decisions and choices to improve upon our quality of life, most often these choices require willpower, we need to halt our impulsive desires in favor of longer term goals. Trying to exert self-control can be a struggle, and some of us are better at it than others.
Apparently, you can be too good at it. While being able to stick to your routines, positive habits, and longer term goals is an impressive ability and one that will reward you well, it turns out you can overdo it. We can get too caught up in what we’re doing that we actually do too much of it. Like drinking so much water that you choke, these habits are best kept at an ideal level, not too little nor too much. An article on Huffington Post has more details:
2. You stretch until it hurts
Stretching after your workout (never stretch a cold muscle!) helps increase flexibility and range of motion, enabling you to perform daily activities with ease. Overstretching a muscle, however, can lead to problems and can happen in a couple different ways.
?You can overstretch a muscle accidentally, which quickly leads to an injury or strain,? say Irv Rubenstein, exercise physiologist and founder of STEPS Fitness, a personal fitness training center in Nashville, Tenn. ?If you stretch too far or too long with intent, such as holding an extreme stretch, you can induce microtears (microscopic muscle tears) that can cause a cascade of events that can result in inflammation and tenderness.?
Some people don’t stretch at all, while others go too far. What other habits share these aspects? Check out the rest of the article to find out.
