This is one of my favorite applications. This application will give you all the tools you need to help you lose weight. You can look up the nutritional content of all your favorite name brands, as well as simple generic foods, such as an apple. You can also add in all of your workouts, exercises, activities, etc., and you will have a very accurate description of your calories burned and consumed.

It will tell you everything you need to know to meet all of your goals. You can input different goals you have and the app does the rest… well not really. If you want to meet your goals, you will still have to exercise and eat well 🙂

2. Fooducate – Free

 

 

This is my most used application. It is very comprehensive and all has tons of information. You simply scan the food you are going to be purchasing (or simply typing the name of the food, like banana, if it is not packaged), and it gives you a score based on a very complex grading system. A really healthy food, like kale, receives an A, while highly processed foods, such as Oreos, receive D’s.

You can also track your exercise, calories, and food intake easily with this app. ?You can also customize the app to fit your health views. Don’t like GMO’s, food colorings, MSG, etc.? No problem. Fooducate will let you know!

I promise that you will learn more about the food your eating with this application than with any other app out there.

3. GoodFoodNearYou – Free

This app is also a great one to have when traveling. It will show you all the healthiest options based on your location. It can target anything from restaurants to fast food (don’t know how many healthy options you will find there) to grocery stores and more. If you find a place you like, simply type it in the app, and a list of the healthiest options appear.

4. Hot5 Fitness – Free

Hot5 Fitness is one of the best fitness apps available. It is the perfect application for finding quick workouts for a wide variety of workout levels. From yoga, pilates, and core, to cardio, weight loss, strength, and power, this app has it all.

The videos are up-to-date and modern, unlike many apps whose videos appear to be from the 1970’s. The app is extremely easy to use and does not require you to fill out annoying questionnaires or lengthy sign-ups.

5. Pact – Free

This is one of the more unique and interesting apps I have found. It is based off of making fitness and nutrition goals, and being accountable.

If you complete your goals, you receive money from other Pact members. However, if you fail to reach your desired goal, you must pay other Pact members.

Talk about a great way to keep people motivated! Don’t worry, it is not too much money (up to $5 a week), but it is a really fun way to stay motivated.
