How to Keep Up With Music Trends
I talk a lot about keeping up with trends on this website. If you want to be a truly social man, it is necessary to have a wealth of knowledge in many areas. This allows us to have conversations with diverse groups of people.
For instance, I could give two shits who wins the World Series this year… but I still follow enough sports news to carry on a semi-intelligent conversation with a hard core baseball fan.
Staying ahead of the trends is particular important if you’re aiming to be popular in high school, or the college scene. Here you are judged as much on your favorite band, brand of clothes, and pop culture knowledge- as you are on your personality.
I was never one to know the hot new band. So often I was guy rocking Bon Jovi CDs in my car… and my CD collection in the dorm room hardly ever inspired praise.
When I’ve talked about staying ahead of the trends in the past… many readers have asked me to recommend websites that will keep them up to date.
I just wanted to pass along a website that I’ve been addicted to lately. Its a social networking type site where users submit their favorite songs. The songs then are rated Digg style.
The website is called The sixty One. It is my new favorite radio station while at the computer. And its constantly being updated with the latest popular tracks.
The website is slanted toward indie rock, pop, and electronic… so those of you looking to keep up with the Hip Hop scene will be disappointed.
The website might be just the tool you need to get some music knowledge under your belt.
Pete the Freshman, resident tech guy, and part time DJ recommends these sites below:
Between The Sixty One and the 5 sites Pete mentioned above… you should have no trouble staying up to date with whats hot in the music world.
Do girls leave you confused as to whether or not they like you?
Let's face it. Girl's don't make it easy for you. She will often send mixed signals leaving you unable to tell if she is being friendly or flirty. If you read her signals wrong you risk rejection and embarrassment. Or worse, you blow it with a girl who wanted to kiss you.
Here is a simple and innocent move that will instantly tell you if you're in the friend zone, or if she's waiting for you to kiss her.
