A lot of people ask us how we make our living, and it’s always tough to say exactly. Because, it all kind of depends on the year, or on the month even. Sure, there’s a few steady gigs we have, but we do supplement that income throughout with small gigs in order to make life a little bit better. (When you start breaking things down on an hourly wage level, it is a whole lot better to freelance than to just pull one of those 9 to 5ers.) But you don’t have to work freelance exclusively for things to work out like that. Even if you have a “real” job, you can make some extra scratch on the side.

Create A Site/App
If you are a developer and you have a simple idea, create it. If you create an app or website that people visit, you can start generating money each month with very little maintenance. I have a small number of apps and sites that generate residual income for me each month.

Fiverr
Fiverr is a marketplace where you can purchase just about any service for $5. These services include writing, design, marketing, video animation, all the way to creating custom ringtones. If you?re good at something, there is probably a good chance you can make $5 for it on Fiverr.

Freelance Writing
Are you a good writer and an expert in a field? If so, there are many small to large publications that will pay you for your work. I know this firsthand, being a freelance writer myself. My recommendation is that you build up a small portfolio before trying to land paid gigs.
