Must-Read: Healthy Foods To Ease Up On

Humans are creatures who really love putting things into categories so that we don’t have to think about them anymore. It’s a compartmentalization that allows us to simply think of things one way, and then move on and think of another thing in another way. Rather than looking at the actual nuance of a situation, we look at things in a black and white way that doesn’t always help us. One place where that hurts us is in the realm of foods. While there are plenty of things that you can put in the “healthy” category (say, apples) and the “not-so-healthy” category (burgers, for instance), there are a few others that are kind of in between. The trick, then, is knowing which ones you need to not eat all of the time.

And so today we’re heading on over to Men’s Fitness where they have a list of 12 foods that you think are healthy, but you want to watch out for. For instance, among the types of foods that they’re talking about, is this sucker:

Avocado

Avocado is everywhere, and rightfully so. It?s a superfood. Each fruit is packed with 10 grams of fiber and more than twice the potassium of a banana. Avocado has been shown to lower cholesterol levels, reduce cancer and diabetes risk, and improve skin health. The drawback: Due to its high-fat content (heart-healthy monounsaturated fat is still fat) and the heavy praise avocado receives for its health benefits, it?s all too easy to go overboard. ?While they?re packed with more than 20 vitamins and minerals, avocados are still calorically dense,? says Tanya Zuckerbrot, R.D., author of The Miracle Carb Diet. ?Use moderation when adding them to your salads, sandwiches, and anything else.?

Head on over to the above link to check out the rest of the possibilities. And then get to trying to remain as healthy as you can.
