Must-Read: Go To These Countries
There’s a false sense in the world that either you have the travel bug or you don’t. It’s not really like that. It’s more, if you’re not, then you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone and give it a try first. And then, if you don’t like it, well then you can make the case that it’s not just for you and you can go ahead and get your home and die on your couch at 350 pounds or so in ten years. But who really wants to do that now?
Which is why today we’re heading on over to AskMen.com where they have a large list of places that you need to visit before you die. Or, more accurately, places you need to head over to and then WISH that you don’t die there. It all makes sense, trust us. In fact, to prove what we’re talking about, here’s one of their entries:
Indonesia
Indonesia is always in the papers for the wrong reasons: devastating natural disasters (earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions), terrorist attacks, ferry sinkings, regional airline crashes — the list goes on. If you don’t read the papers and have never given Indonesia a second thought, you’re probably scared out of your wits after reading this paragraph.
You shouldn’t be. Major catastrophes like these are rare (just heavily reported on), and you’d have to have Eeyore levels of bad luck to even witness any of these calamities. If you can step out of your earthquake-proof, bomb-resistant windowless padded cell, Indonesia will floor you — in a good way. Here, on the largest archipelago on earth, you can see the largest flower (rafflesia arnoldii), the largest lizard (komodo dragon), the longest snake (reticulated python) and possibly the most biologically diverse place on the planet (Kalimantan, a single island with more than twice as many plant species as the entire continent of Africa). Surfing mecca Bali will give you the workout of a lifetime, both on the waves and in the all-night, all-day bars and clubs. Check out the orangutans in Sumatra, the pristine coral reefs off the Togean Islands and the staggering variety of flavorful cuisine and dozens of varieties of fresh tropical fruit. Nobody leaves Indonesia disappointed.
So head on over to the link above and check out the places that you need to go before you get too old and can’t head over there anymore.
