Top Five Movies of Melissa Leo

I am confused by the fact that astrology is still around. Other artifacts representing the 70s in my mind are long gone: 8-track tapes; CB radios; and good Pacino and De Niro movies. Still, it strikes me that one of the first things that pops into my head when I think of the lovely actress Melissa Leo is that her last name represents one of the constellations of the zodiac. Now that I think of it, it might be the only good zodiac last name. Johnny Capricorn? Billy Aquarius? Jimmy Cancer? Heather Sagittarius? Julie Libra? Michael Pisces? Jill Aries? None exactly scream actual names but rather fantasy football team owner sobriquets or weird pseudonyms.

I got a little curious to research the zodiac and astrology as I thought more about it. To me it has always been a lark, an interesting topic of conversation when talking with some ladies and a fascination regarding how it still exists as a part of a dating profile. Then, I read this sentence in the about section of the American Federation of Astrologers: ?We welcome you on your exciting and rewarding journey as you continue to explore astrology, the oldest of the sciences!? It?s science, so it has to be true, kind of like phrenology. Now I need to look for a good Gemini girl and rent one of Melissa?s movies below to watch on a date.

5. Alphabet Killer

Not only does this movie have Melissa, it also has the lovely Eliza Dushku, who first came to me in a vision, a television. Oh, ?Buffy the Vampire Slayer,? I miss you so. The movie also has Cary Elwes who has kept busy lately with some fun appearances on the television show ?Psych.?

4. Everybody?s Fine

Maybe I was a little hard on Robert De Niro in my introduction, and I think I?ll give him a chance in this movie. The fact that it also has Melissa and Kate Beckinsale plays a big part in my giving him that chance.

3. Ballad of Little Jo

It?s a western. It has Melissa. It has Heather Graham. It has Gandalf the Grey. I think this story about a girl who disguises herself as a boy to live unmolested in the Wild West deserves a chance.

2. Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada

It has been quite a few years now, but a friend recommended this surprisingly little movie, surprising because Tommy Lee Jones directed it and it is his motion picture directorial debut. It certainly kept me entertained and since I don?t remember much about it, I know it needs another watch soon.

1. The Fighter

I?m never really sure about boxing movies, it seems like I?ve seen too many that aren?t that good (?Rocky IV? anyone?) compared to the ones that are great (?Raging Bull?). I didn?t list it in Amy Adams?s list, but Melissa won an Academy Award and Christian Bale yelling can be entertaining.
