Top Five Destinations of Spokane

Personally, I find it strange that I?ve never visited Spokane. But Jason, you might reply, in the scheme of things, not many people have ever visited Spokane. Sure, I say, but I?m not talking about people that have never left the confines of the Ohio River Valley. Jason, you chide, that?s awfully judgmental of the good people of the upper Midwest. Sure, I retort, but I could say it about a lot of people in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas too. Well, the anger rising in your voice as you yell, Jason you?re being a snob. As I shut the monitor of my laptop in your face, I scream, I?ve been west and never through one of the largest thoroughfares going that way.

In fact, it?s the only one I haven?t traveled. I?ve traveled on the 10, Interstate 40, I-70, Interstate 80 and Interstate 84. But, when I have been north of that, I?ve tended toward the back road, navigating through Idaho on Highway 12 through the big stretch of mountain forests, the only main road between Interstate 84 and Interstate 90.

I bet it?s because I?ve never been in a hurry going west, so I try roads like Highway 12, Highway 20 by Craters of the Moon National Park, routes 12 and 24 in southern Utah and Highway 160 through Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. However, at some point, I?m sure I?ll finally wander around western Washington and then want to race to somewhere new along the fast lanes of Interstate 90 and pass right through Spokane. Then, maybe with those saved minutes, I can stop and enjoy these five things.

The baseball season for Spokane doesn?t start until June 14th, so that?s a ways away for baseball. However, considering Keith Law ranks the Texas Rangers #9 and John Sickels considers the Rangers to be one of the deeper organizations, there should be plenty of good prospects to watch.

I?ll admit that it?s the name that caught my eye at first. How often do you see something named Clinkerdagger? Then I look at the steak menu and I?m sold before I even glance at the seafood etoufee, the pan-seared crab cakes or the warm brie with macadamia nut crust.

This museum looks awesome. I?ll just whet your appetite with mentions of squirrels riding fire engines, a ?Room of Dazzle,? a car owned by Elvis and ?living death masks? of Hollywood stars. When you visit, Marvin gives you the personal tour.

Eat simple at Dick?s Hamburgers

I like that the menu at Dick?s Hamburgers doesn?t change. I also like that it contains mostly just burgers, fries and shakes, which is the perfect simple meal.

Explore Mount Spokane State Park

Lastly, I know after all the food I?ll eat I?ll need to get out. So, I?ll head thirty=five miles out of town and drive up to . In the winter, I?ll strap on a pair of skis and hit the slopes. In the summer, I?ll find a trail and hike to my heart?s content.
