Breaking up is never easy, no matter what age bracket you’re in. If you’re the one who is being broken up with, you are terribly heart. If you are the one doing the breaking up, you are then feeling terrible about having to end this thing. It’s never easy. But one thing that we’ve been reminding ourselves over the years is that things get easier. When you start growing up and getting older, life finds a way to seemingly get a little easier as you get used to it. Except, when it comes to breaking up, it really isn’t easier when you get older. In fact, it’s a whole lot harder when you start having to dissolve relationships when you get into your 30s.
So today we’re heading over to AskMen.com, where they have a pretty fascinating and well-written article about how it sucks to end relationships when you get into your thirties. For example, it’s no longer super easy to simply take your stuff, and she take hers, and then move on from there. There are plenty of other considerations to take into account as well:
First off, when you are young, the closest you come to living together is sharing a bed when her parents are out of town. Now you are tallying who spent what on the curtains. Nothing sexy or fun about that. The exit is dramatic, and the impact is much more far reaching. Our lives were connected in more than just the romantic; they were intertwined in a practical way. Dissolving a partnership is a longer process than getting over f*cking your college girlfriend.
