5 Reasons to Stop Caring What Other People Think of You
Everywhere I look, I see people worried about how they’re being perceived by others.
Girls with bright orange, fake-baked skin, pounds of make-up, and the latest fashion accessories imitating celebrities. Guys wearing Sperry Top Siders, Croakies, Brooks Brothers polos, and shorts that fall above the knee, trying to look the part of frat star because that’s what’s “cool”.
That’s only the beginning of it. It’s everywhere. It’s an epidemic. People trying to dress, talk, act, and think a certain way to fit in with a certain clique or to try to make people view them in a certain way. It’s disgusting.
Stop giving a damn about?strangers’?ideas of your appearance.?Why? I’ll tell you why. Here are 5 reasons.
Dr. Seuss said, “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” If you’re trying to impress people and form relationships based off of fitting into some stereotype, your relationships will be shallow and worthless.
On the other hand, if you never compromise your identity and just be who you are, you’ll find people who really care about you, and those who don’t like it don’t matter anyways.
Once you manage to stop clinging to what other people might think of you, you’re liberated. You can walk down the street without the slightest anxiety about how your hair looks or if your outfit is appealing.
Not worrying about the opinions of people who don’t matter gives you a whole bunch of time to think about the shit that actually matters in life — like family, friends you love, and what you want to accomplish with your time.
People who are obviously very concerned with their appearance or with fitting in stand out like a sore thumb to those of us who stopped caring about that stuff.
Trust me. I can see straight through your fancy disguises and weak facades. Your insecurities are showing, and you look like a fake piece of garbage.
In social situations, the people who really let loose and have a great time are the ones who are comfortable with who they are. Those who are not can often be found trying to post up in the corner or look chill on the couch.
Just let loose already. Let go of your need to look acceptable. Your entire conception of “being cool” came from the mass media and high school. It doesn’t matter.
5. You’ll be a better person.
Almost inevitably, those who are worried about what other people think are also very good at judging people who don’t meet their standards. They cut people down and talk badly to build themselves up.
Once you accept yourself, you begin to see that we’re all just doing the best we can in this crazy world to get by. No one deserves to be judged harshly. We’re in this together. Wake up and smell the roses.
I apologize to those of you who feel I may have come off sounding a bit pretentious or condescending in this post.
It wasn’t meant to be hateful to anyone, but I really am just sick and tired of the judgment and insecurity I see all around.
It isn’t easy to stop caring what people think of you. It takes practice, and I haven’t fully mastered the art. The thing to realize, though, is that the people who really?love?their lives are content with themselves.
I want you to love your life, and I want this to be a better world for all of us. So please, take a step back, stop judging, and don’t let other people rule your life.
After all, one life is all you get.
Do girls leave you confused as to whether or not they like you?
Let's face it. Girl's don't make it easy for you. She will often send mixed signals leaving you unable to tell if she is being friendly or flirty. If you read her signals wrong you risk rejection and embarrassment. Or worse, you blow it with a girl who wanted to kiss you.
Here is a simple and innocent move that will instantly tell you if you're in the friend zone, or if she's waiting for you to kiss her.
