Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers to Headline Lollapalooza

If you like funk-rock, heavy metal and deep dish pizza, you?re in luck. This summer?s Lollapalooza lineup has been announced and it?s a varied lot to say the least.

RHCP! BS!

RollingStone.com?has released a list of artists set to play the popular Chicago music festival. With artists as diverse as Bloc Party, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Shins, this year?s Lollapalooza has something for everybody.

Heavy metal legends Black Sabbath will headline the show, marking their only North American date of 2012. Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell (Jane?s Addiction) expressed his enthusiasm for the band?s appearance:

“They mean so much to me, and they mean so much to music in general, that I kind of feel like I’m dreaming to know that Black Sabbath is actually gonna perform at Lollapalooza.?

Lollapalooza debuted in 1991 as a farewell tour for Jane?s Addiction and lasted until 1997. Revived in 2003, the three-day festival draws more than 160,000 people to Grant Park. Past acts include Metallica, Skrillex, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Eminem and many others. This year?s festival will take place August 3-August 5. Check out the festival?s official website for a full list of bands.

If you?ve never been to Lollapalooza (or have no live music experience beyond coworker karaoke), here?s a video recap of last year?s festival.
