Study Tells Everyone To Stop Using Facebook!
So, you got a lot of Facebook friends, huh? And you write on a bunch of people’s walls and leave them comments for the silly photos of their latest night out that they post, eh? Well, guess what, folks! That means you’re narcissistic and insecure!
How so? Well, here’s the science:
Those who spent more time updating their profile on the social networking site were more likely to be narcissists, said researchers.
Facebook provides an ideal setting for narcissists to monitor their appearance and how many ?friends? they have, the study said, as it allows them to thrive on ?shallow? relationships while avoiding genuine warmth and empathy.
They also tend to use the site for promoting themselves to friends or people they would like to meet, the study concluded.
Those who scored higher on the narcissism test checked their Facebook pages more often each day than those who did not.
So, where does that leave us? Well, nowhere really. OF COURSE people who check Facebook all the time are narcissistic
and insecure. I mean, they’re obviously checking Facebook constantly because they don’t have enough going on in their own lives and need this tenuous hold on reality in order to validate their lives.
BUT the main take-away in all of this is as follows: Stop going on Facebook so much when trying to meet women! It should be an extra tool in your disposal, something you check maybe once a day AT THE VERY MOST. To be constantly on it is to not realize the distraction that constantly being on it truly is. Go out there. Actually MEET people. Don’t just sit at home and comment or message people. That’s what you can do AFTER MEETING SOMEONE as a way of planting the seed a bit deeper. But not off the bat.
Are we all clear on this? Please, question/comment away about the validity of Facebook in your every day life.
