Counterfeit Condom Alert, New Yorkers!
As a public service announcement to all of our East Coast readers, we bring to you this warning from the New York Times: Watch out for fake condoms!
Apparently, certain shops (legitimate or otherwise) are selling Chinese knockoff boxes of Trojan condoms. They look just like the real things on the outside, but these versions “did not have spermicide as advertised and later failed water leakage tests.” And those are the most important things when it comes to condoms!
(It’s important to note that the article does say that Trojan is not the only condom manufacturer to have knockoff brands out there on the streets. Other companies such as Durex and Rough Rider have also been the victim of having cheaper, fraudulent items out there on the street.
So, the main thing to take away from this is, our main lesson here, is if the price seems too good, it probably is for a reason. And condoms are not something to mess around with, folks. One wrong move, and you could be stuck with a problem (STD or kid-wise) for the rest of your life. Just go to a legitimate business’s health section and spend a few extra bucks on a real box of condoms. And hey, if you’re just interested in saving money, just buy in bulk!
