Reunions That Matter: Monty Python

In this day and age of long-awaited reunions taking place every time you turn on the TV – my feeling is that all of these are somehow based on the recession, the long exception being the Seinfeld reunion since they have more money than the Vatican – there’s one just around the corner that’s easily the most important: The return of Monty Python.

On October 15th, all six original members of the brilliant and groundbreaking comedy group will be at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York to celebrate their 40th anniversary and promote a new documentary. Apparently, tickets for the event will be available at IFC.com sometime in mid-September, so you might want to put that site on constant refresh. No doubt they’re going to sell out in minutes once they go on sale.

Oh, and that’s right: I said all six members of Monty Python will be there. CHUD.com highlights that particularly odd claim:

The weirdest thing? Apparently Graham Chapman will be in the house… but he won’t be appearing at the Q&A after the performance. It will be interesting to see what rites they perform to raise him from the dead, since he’s been in the grave for 20 years.

To get you ready – and really, just to have an excuse to post these – here’s a trio of clips for your perusal:
