Improve Your Posture With These 10 Exercises

When we think of obtaining good health, the first things which tend to pop into our heads are eating right and exercising regularly. However, having a correct posture is also just as important in preserving a long and healthy life.

If you fail to do posture exercises on a frequent basis, then you may find yourself running into poor posture habits at an early age. It?s vital to take care of your spine as it directly affects your bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments. People who slouch often can experience problems with digestion, breathing and various other physical issues.

For this reason, we?ve decided to direct your attention over to Keep Inspiring, which has some simple posture exercises that can be performed with very little equipment:

1. Planks

The classic plank is a fantastic core exercise that lights up a multitude of muscles all at once. When done correctly the plank strengthens several abdominal muscles while also working the shoulders and back.

Even better, several variations on the plank exist, so it?s easy to switch things up for a greater challenge or to combat boredom.

2. Dumbbell Side Bends

This is another exercise for the obliques. You?ll need at least one light weight for this one, but you can also use cans of soup if you don?t have weights.

Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Relax your shoulders. Slowly bend to one side, then return to the starting position. You can do all reps on one side before doing the other or work both sides at once.

Each exercise comes with easy-to-follow instructions along with a brief video demonstration. Just by doing a few of these workouts on a regular basis, you can fix your posture and improve your overall long-term health.
