How to Treat A Serious Sunburn
Ok, so this isn?t rocket science, but I?m sure there are few people that figured a little sun can?t hurt them. Well, I?m willing to bet that those are the same folks who are crying about how much their sunburns hurt.
What?s the best way to treat sunburn? Don?t get burned, genius!
But for those of you who already got burned, the next best thing to do is get out of the sun. You don?t want to make the burns any worse or want them to spread, so get out of there asap.
Once you?re out, the next thing would be to clean and wash the burn much like how you would treat a cut, or any other damages to the skin. DO NOT RUB!!! (this will obviously hurt, in case you haven?t already noticed)
There is a product called Solarcaine that provides a cooling and painkiller effect. It?s awesome to use especially if the burn is severe, but if you don?t have access to it a simple painkiller like Tylenol and a cool towel will do. (be aware that if left on for too long, it can irritate skin)
A good ole fashioned oatmeal bath is also a promising candidate for those of us who have suffered burns across the whole body. A bath or two a day for a few days should help ease the pain and heal the skin?s irritation.? Aloe has also been proven to be a useful post-burn treatment.
Make sure to keep the skin moist with lotion! Moisture will help ease the pain and speed up the healing. If you must go outside, be sure to use sunscreen at about SPF 30. (the higher SPF?s haven?t been proven anymore effective then the 30, so why bother with more?) Although exfoliation will remove your peeling skin, it will also make your skin look blotchy.? Be sure to continuously apply moisturizer to prevent your flesh from flaking all over the place.
These things should do the trick, but in case they don?t? try contacting your local doctor or perhaps a dermatologist?Sunburn is a nasty thing!
