10 Best Ways To Stay Healthy At Work
The workplace can be an intense environment, making it a difficult place to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Sitting down for eight hours a day, five days a week takes its toll on our eyes, necks and backs.
There?s also the added worry of venturing to the snack machine every lunch time or loading up on caffeine. If you?re an employee, you know that maintaining a healthy lifestyle at work benefits you in a number of ways; greater productivity, fewer sick days and ? most importantly ? less stress. This is where we turn your attentions to Huffington Post, which highlights some excellent ways you can promote wellbeing whilst on the job:
1. Wash Your Hands Often
Hand-washing is the number one way you can prevent yourself from getting sick. There is no such thing as washing your hands too much. Although it may seem obvious, many don’t take it as seriously as they should.
2. Limit Caffeine Intake
Yes, we love our coffee, but remember to drink it and other caffeinated beverages in moderation. Try to reduce your intake to one cup each morning to avoid a caffeine crash later on. You can also greatly reduce calories and sugar intake by drinking your coffee without cream or sugar
3. Eat Well Including Light, Healthy Lunches
Plan out your meals for the week, including what you will eat for lunch. Then take time the night before to pack a healthy lunch for the next day. Make sure to include some lean protein, salad or fresh veggies, and fresh fruit for lasting energy with no afternoon slump.
The most important way to stay healthy at work begins with self-analysis. Learn your limits and make sure you can stay within those limits. Taking short breaks and getting plenty of exercise are both great ways of keeping you physically and mentally fresh in the workplace.
