The top five ways men embarrass their girlfriends at parties

Your dating choices are a reflection on yourself. With this in mind, your girlfriend is hyper-aware of how embarrassing you can be in social situations. You may think you are just being sociable, but she feels ashamed if you engage in any of these behaviours at parties.

Flirting in front of her

The absolute worst thing you can do is flirt with another woman right under her nose. It is even worse if she has brought you to the party. All her friends will be judging you for being sleazy, and of course judging her for being with you. It is completely humiliating for your girlfriend to see you trying it on with another woman. Unless her self-esteem is rock bottom, you can bet she will not be your girlfriend for long.

Not talking to anyone

Your girlfriend expects that you will be sociable when at a party together. It is fine if you find you do not have all that much to add to conversations. If your girlfriend has dragged you to what essentially amounts to a girls? night and they are all discussing their favourite nail polish, you do not have anything to contribute. However, you should continue to be present in the conversation, so you are able to speak up when the opportunity arises. Do not remove yourself from the conversation by busying yourself with your phone or sitting by yourself with only a bowl of chips for company.

Being too drunk

Getting drunk increases your chances of being an embarrassment. Your girlfriend does not want to be known for being with the guy that threw up in the punch bowl. Being too drunk is also embarrassing in itself. You may think you are holding it together, but no doubt you will stumbling and slurring your way through the party.

Bad fashion choices

This is something that is completely within your control. It is possible to accidentally drink more than you intended or to be a social failure. It is not possible to wear a tacky tee shirt by accident. You do not need to ask your girlfriend to give your outfit her tick of approval (although it certainly could not hurt to do so). Use your own judgment to pick an outfit that looks good. Anything sloppy, such as fleece pants, or juvenile, such as a tee shirt with a funny slogan printed on it, is going to cause embarrassment to your girlfriend. If you have absolutely no sense of style, wear a fool-proof outfit of a long sleeved shirt, fitted jeans and dress shoes.

Getting too personal

There is no excuse for telling a sordid and personal story. It will embarrass your girlfriend. Even if it is a small group, she will be humiliated by others knowing her private business. To be on the safe side, keep your salacious story to yourself even if the story does not involve your girlfriend. She may be embarrassed that you told the party about something really funny that happened in bed with your ex.
