It’s Monday morning and a few of your colleagues are exchanging stories about what they did over the weekend. One took a trip upstate with his wife while the other talks about a dinner he prepared using his new grill. When they ask about yours you hesitate. Because you spent the lion’s share of the weekend watching Family Guy. And while that resulted in a well-deserved high five the first time, now it’s just embarrassing. It’s embarrassing because you have nothing better to do — or, rather, because you continue to choose television over everything else — and the kicker is that you aren’t even watching shows (say, Orange Is the New Black) that would make for an interesting critique on the state of television.
