Must-Read: Less Sleep Will Make You Fat
We’ve rallied on and on and on in this space before about the importance of sleep. Sleep does NOT make you a wuss, or make you less of a man or something like that. That saying about “I’ll sleep when I’m dead?” It’s a really, really dumb saying. You’ll sleep now, and you’ll goddamn like it, because if you don’t then you are going to kill your body in horrible ways. Not only will your brain be destroyed, but there are other things happening inside of you that will make your life barely worth living. Your heart will crumble, your internal organs will shatter, and worst of all you’re going to get really, really, really fat if you don’t get good nights of sleep consistently, folks.
So today we’re heading on over to Men’s Fitness where they have an explanation of how sleeping less can actually make you fatter. Why? Because of this:
What explains their lousy food choices? For starters, sleep deprivation is known to decrease higher-level thinking and increase the rumbling in your stomach. “We hypothesized that sleep deprivation’s impact on hunger and decision making would make for the ‘perfect storm’ with regard to shopping and food purchasing, leaving individuals hungrier and less capable of employing self-control and higher-level decision-making processes to avoid making impulsive, calorie-driven purchases,” said study author Colin Chapman in an Uppsala University news release.
So head on over to the link in order to check out the rest of the explanation. But just know that the main takeaway you have today is that you really, really, really, REALLY should focus more on getting your sleep on a regular bassi, or else be prepared to add on a few extra pounds and say so long to all of your times with the ladies. Your decision, folks.
