‘Beverly Hills Cop’ Coming to CBS
Cue ?The Heat is On.? ?Beverly Hills Cop? is making a comeback, but this time you?ll have to deal with commercials in-between Murphy?s wisecracks.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the hit ?Beverly Hills Cop? franchise won?t be returning to the big screen, but rather resurrecting in the form of ?an hour-long crime procedural with comedic elements.? CBS has committed to shooting a pilot based on the franchise.
Eddie Murphy will reprise his role as Axel Foley in ?Beverly Hills Cop.? Nearly twenty years after the last abysmal “Beverly Hills Cop? film was released (?Beverly Hills Copy 3?), Foley is now the chief of police in Detroit. The show will revolve around his son Aaron, a cop working in Beverly Hills, with Murphy making appearances here and there.
The original ?Beverly Hills Cop? film came out in 1984, and Murphy?s career has seen its ups (?Shrek?) and downs (most everything else) since then. Let?s hope this show plays as well as the first two films and less like ?Norbit.?
While you?re waiting for the show to come out, you can always listen to “Axel F” for your BHC fix. This song makes sitting at your computer eating Goldfish seem badass.
