Batman Fans Erupt Over Negative Reviews of “The Dark Knight Rises”
Holy overreaction, Batman! Fans around the interwebs are going Joker-crazy, threatening and harassing film critics for publishing negative reviews of the upcoming Batman film ?The Dark Knight Rises.?
Enraged Batman fans are up in arms over the handful of critics who have failed to give ?The Dark Knight Rises? a four-star review. Some fans have even gone beyond name calling, threatening physical harm. One critic, Marshall Fine of the blog Hollywood and Fine, has actually received death threats.
The situation?s gotten so bad, movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes has shut down user comments on the film?s page Matt Atchity, the site?s editor-in-chief, explained the shutdown to Fox News:
“The job of policing the comments became more than my staff could handle for that film, so we stopped the comments altogether,” said Atchity. “It just got to be too much hate based on reactions to reviews of movies that people hadn’t even seen.”
?The Dark Knight Rises? will be released this Friday in North America. It premiered Tuesday in New York City. The film is one of the most anticipated of the decade, coming four years after the insanely successful ?The Dark Knight.?
As Atchity said, all of these fans upset over the reviews haven?t even seen the movie. For all anyone knows, it?s not the greatest film known to mankind. Either way, the outcry is totally unnecessary. Or maybe I?m just not that big of a fan of Batman. If critics had given ?Back to the Future? a bad review way back in 1985, I probably would have flipped shit too.
