Dwight Schrute Heads Home for Upcoming Spinoff of “The Office”

If you think Dwight Schrute is funny in ?The Office,? imagine him in ?The Beet Farm.? Rainn Wilson, the actor behind the NBC comedy?s top salesman, is rumored to star in a yet-to-be named spinoff on the famous Schrute family beet farm.

Dwight!

According to a recent article for Deadline Hollywood Wilson is to star in a midseason 2013 spinoff of ?The Office.? The show is to be set on the Schrute family beet farm and bed & breakfast,a location which has been referenced numerous times on ?The Office? and even appeared in one episode.

?At its base it will be about a family farm struggling to survive and a family trying to stay together,? said a source close to Deadline Hollywood. The show will involve multiple generations of the odd Schrute clan.

The spinoff is the brainchild of Wilson and Paul Lieberstein, executive producer for ?The Office? and actor behind Dunder Mifflin?s meek human resources representative, Toby Flenderson. This new venture marks the second time NBC has attempted to create a spinoff. An earlier effortwas rerouted to the series ?Parks & Recreation.?

With the departure of Steve Carell a.k.a. Michael Scott from ?The Office? in 2011, Wilson has taken on a larger role in the series. Whether or not her can carry an entire new show is yet to be seen. The most important question is if he leaves the office, who?s going to torture Jim Halpert?
