Steven Tyler Flubs National Anthem
Unlike Aeromsith?s song ?Amazing,? Steven Tyler?s performance of ?The Star-Spangled Banner? at Sunday?s AFC championship game was anything but.
Despite making a living as a rock singer for forty years and critiquing singers from across the country as a judge on ?American Idol,? Tyler?s rendition of the national anthemwas hardly stellar.
Wearing a sequined Patriots scarf, Tyler gave an inspired, but less than perfect performance. His trademark gruff vocals were to be expected, but in the end his performance was pitchy, strained and even took liberty with some of the lyrics (e.g. ?As bombs bursting in air.?) There?s no doubt he?s one of rock?s most talented vocalists, but this particular performance just didn?t cut it.?Perhaps things would have worked out better if ?Sweet Emotion? were our national anthem.
