Top Five Movies of Liv Tyler

The other female star of ?Super? (as opposed to Ellen Page), this lovely lady first caught my eye in the movie ?Empire Records,? that also starred Robin Tunney, Debi Mazar and Renee Zellweger. However, as much as I fondly remember that movie for all of the young stars it had (and one of the co-stars of ?So I Married an Axe Murderer,? Anthony LaPaglia) I don?t think I can list it in the top five for Liv. Liv has done some other pretty cool things, though I have to say at least one falls in the realm of guilty pleasure. Also not on the list is ?The Incredible Hulk? which I can?t call a pleasure, though I am guilty of seeing it.

5. Stealing Beauty

Cute, cute Liv

Directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, this is a beautiful look at Italy, with the slow pace allowing Liv?s character Lucy Harmon and the viewer to absorb all of the beauty around her. Jeremy Irons, Joseph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz are all in the cast as well, but the beauty I remember is the undressed Liv with the Italian countryside completing the gorgeous composition.

4. Armageddon

Yes, this is the guilty pleasure. I can?t help it. It?s silly. It?s got bad music and montages. The acting isn?t all that great. Still, I can?t help but watch it when it is on. The fact that Liv is in it is almost incidental, and even makes the movie worse, but it is still fun to watch.

3. Heavy

This is just a sweet story and has a great performance from Pruitt Taylor Vince. If you?re looking for a lovely girl who inspires and is warm at heart, it?s easy to typecast Liv in the role.

2. Cookie?s Fortune

I kind of think this one is an overlooked Robert Altman film that takes a great look at life in a southern town. Altman assembles a great cast as usual and besides Liv, there is Charles S. Dutton (director of ?The Wire? predecessor, ?The Corner?), Julianne Moore and star of ?Reno 911,? Niecy Nash.

1. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings

My favorite scene in this wonderful geek crossover movie is when Liv Tyler?s Arwen has Frodo on her horse and is racing against ringwraiths to cross the Ford of Bruinen. Yes, this is different from the book, but it is done so well by Peter Jackson, that it almost makes me forget how it is done in the original text.
