The 3 Style Mistakes That Can Ruin Your First Date
We all know it: the first date decides if there’s ever going to be a second date. If the girl is average and you don’t care if you see her next time or not, you’re allowed to make some mistakes. But what if she’s a hottie and you KNOW she has other options?
One mistake and you’re DONE.
Since we’re talking about the first date here, I want to make sure you make the best impression possible. And get the girl. Here’s why I’ve put together the 3 most common mistakes most men make, which you need to avoid at all cost.
#1 Hygiene
It’s no secret us men tend to care a little less about personal hygiene and grooming as compared to women. Why is that? Beats me but the fact of the matter is women DO care. And they not only care about their hygiene but also about that of the men they date!
If you dated a girl but never saw her again, it was either something you said or something related to your basic hygiene. I know we all have busy lives and, sometimes it’s easier to go to the first date directly instead of going home and showering first but…
Let’s learn from the girls, shall we? Here’s a relevant example from my own personal life: I once had my girlfriend over and she wouldn’t do anything except kissing UNLESS I let her take a shower first… ALONE! She kept going on and on about how she came to me directly from work and didn’t have time to shower. The fact that she hadn?t showered since that morning was eating her up!
My point is this: bad smell, dandruff, un-clipped fingernails or messy hair can send you right home from your first date. Well, maybe she’s not going to simply leave but you’ll see her poor eye contact and defensive body language…
#2 Not Wearing at Least One Stylish Piece of Clothing
First date clothing needs to be fine tuned to the MAX if you’re dating a hot girl. If your hygiene and grooming are taken care of, the next big thing is to make sure you don’t dress like an average Joe. You have to show her you respect yourself and you’re willing to stand out. And you just can’t do that in jeans and a white t-shirt.
Think about what you’re going to wear and ask yourself: do girls turn their heads in the street for me? If not, you know you have to do something. Hey, nobody’s asking you to dress like Johnny Depp here but you do need to stand out from the crown. Here’s the trick to do it without emptying your wallet:
Wear the exact clothes you’re planning to wear on your first date. Now go to the mall and find the one thing that would make you look cool, bold and relaxed. A few examples:
a Fedora
a men’s bracelet
a scarf
a sports jacket
a pair of brown Brogue shoes
a casual ring
a vest
a slim tie
I could go on and on with examples. Up to you to decide which ones work best for your body and what you already have in your closet.
#3 Not Wearing Cologne
One of the things women are good at is noticing the details. They are master detectors of anything that’s wrong with a guy. And they do it by receiving signals on a multitude of channels ? not just the visual one.
That’s why smell is something you want to use to trigger good emotions in a women. Choose a men’s perfume that you like, apply it in moderate quantities and notice how she’ll instantly feel comfortable around you.
If you get the first 10 seconds of the date be absolutely amazing, the whole date will go great. Mission accomplished.
One thing about perfume that can make it or break it is not to apply too much. If people 10 feet from you can feel it, you know you overdid it.
Just use 2-3 puffs at max and you’ll be fine. The only person who needs to smell your perfume (and not get intoxicated by it!) is your date.
