Rad Nerdness: “Star Wars: Uncut”
A few years back, a couple of childhood friends made the Internet news rounds when they finished their extremely low-budget, shot-for-shot remake of “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, a movie they had been meticulously putting together for fourteen years. And now, not to be outdone, fans of “Star Wars” have put together their own project, a shot-for-shot remake of “Star Wars: A New Hope”.
This time, though, the “Star Wars” fans have a better hook. Instead of one group of people putting together the low-budget remake, “Star Wars: Uncut” split up the movie into 15 second clips to be remade by various amateur filmmakers from around the world. So yeah, it’s a bit of a potpourri. In any case, if they ever do finish this up – if I’m reading this right, it looks like they still have 346 clips that are up for grabs – then it’s going to be pretty incredible. As long as they get past that pesky copyright law.
