The Closest We’ll Ever Get To Caddyshack II
At this point, thirty years after the original, there’s a good chance we’re never going to see a sequel to the iconic golf classic Caddyshack*. Ted Knight and Rodney Dangerfield, two of the bigger parts of the original, are off playing the Great Back Nine in the Sky. Director Harold Ramis, judging by the awful reviews of his new movie Year One, has apparently forgotten how to be funny. And let’s not even mention the current state of Chevy Chase’s career. Which is why the following video of Bill Murray is probably the closest we’ll ever get to a Caddyshack II.
The video comes from WPIX in New York. Following a rainout at the U.S. Open a few weeks back, a reporter asks the always genial Murray about how he’s going to prepare for the next day before dropping the most subtle line from the classic film. Almost instantly, Murray breaks out his old friend Carl Spackler:

*Note: Sure, technically there’s already been a Caddyshack II, but that movie deserves a post-term abortion. Let’s go ahead and wipe that from our collective consciousness and start over, deal?
