“It’s In The Hole”: The Best Golf Hole Ever?

I’m not a golfer. While I’ve been known to score near par at the local Putt-Putt, I’ve “real” golfed only once in my life. That said, a man doesn’t have to be a professional golfer to appreciate the beauty of the following lay-out:

The golfer is standing at the tee, and the green he’s shooting for is that thing way, way, way out there. You can see it if you squint just right. Did I mention it’s a par 3?

The hole resides at the new Legends Golf & Safari Resort in South Africa, which includes 18 different holes designed by 18 different professional golfers. This one, however, is the special bonus 19^th hole. DEVIL BALL BLOG has more details:

The course’s so-called “Xtreme 19^th” hole is a par 3 — a par 3 whose tee is atop a cliff on Hanglip Mountain, more than 1,400 feet above a green carved like the continent of Africa. You’ve got to take a helicopter to get to the tee box, and from there it’s more than 630 yards to the pin. Once you tee off, it takes nearly 30 seconds for the ball to hit the ground.

While obviously 99% of the people reading this post will never get a chance to play the hole because, you know, they’re not millionaires, it’s still nice to see the option existing if you happen to win the lottery.
