The Simpson’s Did It: Examining Their New Intro
Last Sunday, The Simpsons did something they haven’t done in 19 years. (Insert snarky "What, actually be funny?” response here.) They significantly changed their intro, not just the quick "sitting on the couch” punchline they change every week. Why did they do that? To take advantage of the new HD format, of course. Here’s the new one if you missed it:

While the basic concepts remain the same, eagle-eyed viewers will notice a bunch of subtle changes throughout, almost as if the creators are saying, "This is all the stuff you were missing before HD came around.” Here’s a few changes just from the first 30 seconds: (a) the three-eyed black crow flying through the titles; (b) Ralph getting beaned by the head of Jebediah Springfield; (c) "Krusty … Now Doing Funerals”; (d) Bart landing on Barney; (e) Lenny and Carl changing the "Days Without An Accident” chart, with ironic results; and (f) a clear view of the products on the shelves of the grocery store. Again, that’s just from the first 30 seconds.
So, what do you all think? Stop any other changes from the rest of it? My own opinion is that while it’s fun and a nice nod towards their fandom, the best Simpsons intro ever will always be the amazing live-action version.
