Speed Dating is not for the Ugly
As if I couldn’t have come to the same conclusion myself, Edinburgh research suggests that looks are far more important than anything else while speed dating. To top it all off, the more choices people had to make from, the more likely they were to choose on looks alone.
Researchers studied 118 speed dating sessions with groups of between seven and 36 people.
They were “surprised” to find as the size of the group grew, a small number of attractive individuals received all the offers. Less popular candidates ended up with few invitations or none at all.
Dr Lenton believes that in smaller groups, people trade off different qualities in prospective mates – physical attractiveness for intelligence, for example.
However, faced with too much choice, people resort to approaches such as choosing solely on looks.
So I look at this 2 different ways:
If looks are not your strong point, stay away and look for opportunities where you have more time to show your awesome personality.
However if looks are your strong point, forget online dating and go and clean house!
