Your teeth are your second set of family jewels..

I hear way to much talk about how guys have nasty teeth so I had to post something about it. I mean I understand how hard it can be to take care of your teeth because it requires a lot of discipline. For a few years I had not been to the dentist, probably like a LOT of you. Not that big of a deal I thought, I mean I brush regularly but noticed my gums bleeding every once and a while so naturally I freaked out!

Thinking my teeth were falling out I ran to the dentist to see what was wrong. After a full examination and some pain the dentist sat down with me.

Listen Mike, for starters, the reason your gums bleed at times is because you aren't taking the time to really care for your teeth.

So I show him how I brush my teeth with the new crest toothbrush I got from his assistant 😉 When I am finished, he takes a mirror and shows me parts of my mouth. It turns out the way I was brushing was eating away at my gum line and I never even knew it. He also showed me the difference on how my right side was more wore down then the left (left-handed). So now I am really freaking, thinking my teeth are on their way out! Then he proceeds to talk about how essential floss is to keeping you gums and teeth healthy.

See if you don't floss, deposits form on your teeth (almost like a calcium deposit). The gums can't attach as good so they start to shrink away form the tooth. Eventually leaving gaps!

Really worried I ask, “is this fixable?

Well, yes and no, he says. If you are going to buckle down and really take care of your teeth then probably. But if you don't, you might run into some serious problems down the road.

After still being in pain form the cleaning, I am now feeling queasy, like a bad dream where your teeth start to fall out. (I know some of you have had those!) It ends up that I wasn't in that bad of shape, but I needed to make a change soon.

Since I always had a problem flossing he recommended this amazing new floss called Crest Glide. I highly recommend it, it's like the silk of floss. It is so easy to use and most of all quick and painless. Or you can try an advanced flossing system smililar to the picture on the right.

He had also recommended getting an electric tooth brush like the one in the beginning of this post. Products like this Soniccare or ones with the battery operated swivel heads make brushing your teeth easy and you tend to be more thorough.

This all happened to me about a year ago and since then I have made it a big deal to take care of my teeth. Think of them as your other set of family jewels. I mean how [[[Alpha Male]]] can you be with bad teeth, be proud to smile and take care of your fuc*in teeth!
