There’s a difference between the guy who jumps around acting drunk all night and the guy who ends up between the sheets with the hot girl from the volleyball team.

Both types of guys start off their night seemingly the same.

Smiles, laughs, fun, a few drinks.

But at some point in the night - the two split ways.

One type of guy gets laid - the other type of guy gets pizza and maybe some mozzarella sticks.

Now, I’m not hating on mozzarella sticks at all btw, i think they are amazing - but like anything else in life, they have their time and their place.

So what’s the difference?

It’s the ability to lead.

The guys that can lead can get people to follow.

Those that cannot lead, simply can’t.

Can you lead a group of guys to a late night bar spot?

WIll they listen to you?

Or will you “go with the flow”

More importantly…

Can you lead a girl to the bedroom?

Or do you just hope for the best?

Leadership makes the difference on campus.

A girl sees you leading = attraction.

A girl notices you are leading your conversation with her = attraction.

You lead a girl to the bedroom = fun time.

So today’s lesson?

LEAD.

In all situations, take it upon yourself to lead.

To make things happen.

Get the plans going.

Lead conversations confidently.

Get comfortable being the new you.

Lead and the girls will follow.

I know that openers and pickup lines are one of the most talked about and desired aspects of game. Over the years I’ve come across hundreds of good openers. The problem that I always found was that I could never find the good ones when I wanted them.

I often read a good opener in a post, or heard one on an audio program, but later when I tried to remember I would completely forget how it went.

Principle 29: Complete the Past to Embrace the Future

The next principle is somewhat of a continuation of the last principle called Clean up Your Messes. In that lesson we talked about the need to complete unfinished tasks or throwaway and unwanted clutter. The idea of cleaning up your mess allows you to breathe more comfortable in the present. But it is only half of the step.

The next part of cleaning up your mess involves completing your past. Too many people are weighed down by past regrets, mistakes, grudges, and hurts. These feelings act as anchors throughout our lives, never allowing us to break completely free to embrace the future.

Canfield gives a method called The Total Truth Letter that acts as a tool to help you release negative emotions from the past and come back to your natural state of love and joy in the present.

Most people never express their complete and true feelings to the person that they are upset with. They then proceed to get stuck in that state of anger, pain, or frustration… never able to move past it to emotional completion. Canfield’s Total Truth Letter can help you express your true feelings, allowing you get back to your natural state of inner peace.

The process is not intended to let you dump your negative emotions on another, but to allow you to move through the negative emotion and release them.

The Total Truth Letter

Follow these steps when writing a Total Truth Letter:

1. Write a letter to the person who has upset you, with roughly equal portions of the letter expressing each of these feelings: anger and resentment, hurt, fear, regrets, wants, forgiveness, and appreciation.

2. If the other party is not someone who is likely to agree to cooperate with this process, you may simply choose to throw the letter away once you have completed it. Remember, the main purpose here is to get you free from the unexpressed emotions, not to change the other person.

3. If the person you are upset with is willing to participate, have him or her write a total truth letter to you, too. Then exchange letters. Both of you should be present when your read the letters. Then discuss the experience. Avoid trying to defend your position. Make an effort to understand where the other person is coming from.

I actually really like the idea of writing the letter and getting all of your deep hidden emotions out on paper. I personally couldn’t see myself sharing the letter with the other person, but I think it would be a great release just to unburden myself from the feelings. Think about all of the wasted time and energy you spend having imaginary conversations in your mind with someone who hurt you. I know I’ve wasted many hours at work in mental arguments that never took place in the real world. These things need to be released to make room for the future.

Forgive and move on

In order to truly complete the past you need to forgive anyone that has wronged you. You need to release that chain they have around you emotionally.

Many people assume that when I say forgive the other person it means you have to befriend them. That isn’t the case… you just have to mentally no longer care. You may still choose not to spend time with the person… but you release your anger towards them.

I can tell you it is liberating you forgive. in one of our Success Principle Review posts I gave a 3 day exercise on forgiveness…. if you didn’t try it yet, give it a shot.

3 Day Exercise: For the next 3 days make a conscious effort to forgive yourself and everyone you’ve held a grudge against at least 3 times a day. Once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once at night… say “I forgive myself for my past mistakes, I didn’t know any better at the time. I’ve seen the error of my ways and have moved on.” And then forgive others by saying “I forgive [insert name] for blah blah blah… it was all they knew at the time. I give myself permission to move on.”

You will be amazed at the weight you feel lifted off your shoulders. It is important that you say this with conviction and emotion. The first time I did this I honestly started to cry, as I realized how much built up aggression I had towards myself for my lack of social skills in high school. I also was able to finally forgive a girlfriend who cheated on me.

Pressure retards learning.

In yesterday’s post I gave some scientific research that explains that when humans learn under high pressure situations their minds form cognitive maps that will limit their ability to alter their performance in the future.

How this relates to picking up women

I remember when I first started studying the teachings of guys like Mystery, Style, and David DeAngelo. I absolutely devoured all of their books and newsletters. At the time, I was coming out of a relationship and desperate to quickly get back into the game. At the time I was working a lot, so I really only had one or two days at most to go out and practice this stuff.

By the time Friday night rolled around I was so hungry for female attention and companionship that I automatically found myself going into do or die mode. I had to make the sale. If I didn’t close a girl, I knew I would have to wait until the following weekend to give it another go.

Most weeks I would get to the bar- head filled with the material I wanted to use- and frozen with fear. Often I would open a few sets with the material, but as the pressure of the interaction increased, my mind would shift into my more natural way of communicating… which never got me the results I wanted.

I felt like I was in a vicious circle. As much as I wanted to use the material, the high pressure atomoshere I put myself in, always resulted in me getting lost in my own head. One off hand comment by a girl, one blown set, and next thing I knew I was back in AFC land.

Sparring and Seduction

A few months into studying pickup, by virtue of my natural skill at social circle game, I wound up dating a girl named Nancy. As much as I enjoyed her company, I was a bit disappointed that my quest to become a pickup artist was halted by a relationship. My head was still swirling with all of the techniques, routines, openers, and stories I wanted to use. Even though I was in a relationship I did not want to give up on learning pickup.

So I continued to study. Only now, instead of going out and practicing on random girls I was meeting in bars and clubs, I was practicing my game on Nancy and her friends. She was a few years younger than me, and was always dragging me out with her group of friends. Here, with all pressure removed, I was delivering routines, perfecting my cocky funny, and developing my storytelling ability.

My growth exploded!

I learned how to control a set, how to neg, how play girls against each other, how create jealousy traps, and was by all accounts- acting like a pickup artist.

Without the high pressure- do or die attitude- I found that not only did I enjoy flirting with women, but I was actually really good at it.

This was a kin to the boxer who practices for the big fight by sparring with his trainer. There is no pressure in the ring, so he can work on his technique, without worrying about results.

In future articles I will talk more about how to practice in low pressure situations.

But for now think about how you can use the concept of “sparring” to get better with women.
